The Masuma muffler bellows are made of AISI 304 austenitic acid-resistant stainless steel. AISI 304 contains 9-10% nickel and is excellently protected against corrosion, while resisting short-term heating up to 800 °C. Masuma corrugated rim rings are made of AISI 409 heat-resistant ferritic stainless steel. AISI 409 is resistant to intergranular corrosion and performs well in gaseous environments characteristic of fuel combustion. Welding of steel can be carried out by any conventional method.
Masuma produces all types of corrugations:
- InterLock (reinforced corrugation)
- InnerBraid (no gain)
- WhireMesh (mesh corrugation)
The InterLock corrugation is a flexible sleeve made of interlocked steel plates on the inside and a slanting braid on the outside. Usually this type of corrugation is put on cars from the factory. InterLock requires precise installation as it has a fairly rigid internal construction. Such a corrugation cannot be installed on a break, compensating for the muffler curvature.
InterLock corrugations are the best solution for a muffler in good condition, without distortions and homemade welds.
